This event was an exciting chance to hear American writer and filmmaker Chris Kraus read from her work and discuss her influential approaches to writing and editing. Kraus’s books include the epistolary novel I Love Dick, which since being republished in 2010 has achieved something like cult status – the book's themes of distanced obsession and the performance of a desiring self proving striking and immediate for a new generation of readers.
Chris Kraus is a filmmaker and the author of I Love Dick, Aliens & Anorexia and Summer of Hate, and co-editor of Hatred of Capitalism: A Semiotext(e) Reader. Index called her “one of the most subversive voices in American fiction.” Her work has been praised for its damning intelligence, vulnerability and dazzling speed.
